Around the corner from downtown Wellfleet, The Flying Fish restaurant has served breakfast, lunch, and dinner for over ten years. Like the other dog-friendly restaurants in Wellfleet, furry friends are allowed in the outdoor dining area. It’s a great morning stop on the way to the beach to enjoy some Beanstock coffee and baked goods from the Wildflour Bakery.

Mac’s on the Pier

Mac’s is a fish shack with a killer view. Great fried seafood. Grab a bench around the pier to eat with your dog, and walk off some calories with a very scenic walk when you’re done. The picture above shows what you’ll see while waiting for your order to ring up.
There’s some picnic tables on the sand with a great view of the adjacent beach. Last time we went to Mac’s on the Pier we saw a recently hatched diamond back terrapin turtle in the sand between the tables. Watch your step!

Moby Dick’s Restaurant

Moby Dick is a casual seafood eatery on Route 6A known for fresh fried clams, lobster rolls, steamers, and chowder.
The interior has a relaxed, New England clam‑shack charm. Outside there are three picnic tables in the back where dogs are welcome. They offer generous fried seafood portions in a family-friendly, open-air setting.
Moby Dick’s is BYOB, so it’s a great pick to drink a few adult beverages with your dinner without running up your bill.

PJ’s is a classic roadside clam shack with outdoor seating that is pet-friendly. be careful in the parking lot though, it’s usually busy and people pulling in from route 6 are often more worried about dodging oncoming traffic than the pedestrians in the parking lot.
PJ’s restaurant is also a good landmark if you’re heading to the Beachcomber or Cahoon’s Hollow Beach, your turn is right after it.

Winslow’s Tavern is a great place to enjoy a cocktail in an 1805 Federal-style captain’s house.
The menu is heavy on seafood, and Winslow’s is a great place to grab some local oysters.

Dog-friendly beaches on cape cod
There are lots of dog-friendly beaches on cape cod, and Wellfleet has one our favorites.
Marconi Beach is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore, and typically allows dogs all summer long to the left and right sides of the lifeguard-protected beach. Make sure to check the national seashore site’s pets page for updates on beach closings due to nesting shorebirds to be safe.
