Update: Dogs are no longer allowed to run free at Dyers Prince Beach near Rock Harbor in Eastham. After a decade of dogs being allowed to run on the beach off-leash, in February 2010 Eastham town selectman voted to enforce a leash rule and hired parking lot sticker enforcement to cut down use of the beach by out of town dog owners.
This ruling by selectman to enforce a leash requirement under town beach rules supercedes a 2006 Eastham bylaw that allows dogs to be off-leash in public if under voice control of their owners. The change was due to complaints by local residents upset that too many visitor's dogs were using the beach and causing damage.
